Our Story

Davis's Story

I had big plans for my Senior year Homecoming weekend. I was going to be partying it up with my little brother, eating pizza and watching college football in our living room. In September of 2018, my big plans were spoiled when I met the most amazing girl. She was gorgeous, kind, funny, and full of life. She was so much better than pizza and football!

One of our mutual friends set us up for homecoming, knowing that we didn't have dates. As I started spending time with Hattie, I was intrigued by how mature and fun she was. A couple dates turned into a relationship, and our relationship grew into love. Obviously, so much has happened between then and now that cannot be put into words. All I can say is that I feel so lucky and excited to be Hattie's husband!

Hattie's Story

The first time I ever saw a picture of my now soon-to-be husband was at a pasta party the night before a cross country race. I was talking with a group of my friends about homecoming plans. They mentioned wanting to go to homecoming with a group of guys and girls since a few of them had dates. I jumped on asking to be set-up with a boy, so we could all go together. Right then and there, Aubrey (shoutout to the best accidental matchmaker) exclaimed that she had a guy friend who would be a great date. She pulled up his Instagram and I was tad over-excited about the possibility of being this stranger's homecoming date.

Ironically, the first time I met Davis was also on the day of a pasta party. The homecoming group decided to meet up for frozen yogurt at Chiller Bee after the girl's cross country pasta party and go to the football game together. This was my first and only high school football game I ever went to, all so I could hang out with Davis. Davis and I hit it off, but being the annoyingly responsible person I tend to be, I left the game early to go to bed for my early morning cross country race.

Luckily, Davis and I started hanging out to get to know each other before homecoming. I knew I was smitten when he decided to formally ask me to be his homecoming date, stating, "I thought you deserved to be asked to homecoming." His poster read, " I couldn't draw up a better date." This statement held true as we continued our relationship throughout high school with Davis staying everyday to each lunch with me despite having the next period off. It held true as we continued our relationship through Davis's two year mission trip to Nebraska and Honduras, where we unfailingly wrote each other every single week. It continues to hold true as we are flying back and forth to see each other at BYU and UT. Looking to the future, I couldn't draw up a better husband.
